Giorgetto Giugiaro has received a lifetime achievement award at the DesignEuropa awards, the authoritative event organised by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)..
"The first DesignEuropa lifetime achievement award”, we read in the motivation, ”has gone to one of the most famous names in industrial design, the creator of more than 200 car designs in a career spanning six decades.
His projects include the Volkswagen Golf, the Lotus Esprit, the Fiat Panda and the Maserati 3200 GT.
In the course of his working life he has collaborated with almost all the world’s most important car manufacturers.
Through his leadership and dedication to his creative activity, he has inspired generations of young designers. Giugiaro is known worldwide as one of the most successful designers in automotive history. To him we owe the creation of more than 300 production models and more than 200 research prototypes for multiple manufacturers. About 60 million vehicles on the roads of the world, produced by major carmakers, are the result of his creativity."
